Elevator Pitch No. 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8fIJvpq-BQ

Elevator pitches are just not my thing! It is very difficult for me to try to memorize a pre-written pitch and then deliver it with passion and emotion. I would prefer to just speak from the hip about something I was truly passionate about. Many people slammed my first pitch because I used notes or spoke too monotone. I did try harder this time but suspect I will receive some of the same feedback. This is something that will take more than 3 attempts to perfect.

  1. Jeff,

I did not see the first pitch but I think this time around was really great. I think it was not rehearsed at all and did not sound scripted. The pitch was heart felt and seemed genuine which I prefer to see in any pitch. If I was an investor, or company member listening in, I want the genuine approach. I learned more from your pitch about the product and got to see your interaction with the camera and felt you did really well. I would not have known you dislike doing these exercises. I would just recommend more pizzazz but overall it was great, Jeff. Great work!

  2. Jeff, I'll be the first to tell you elevator pitches are definitely not my thing as well! I always trip myself up trying to remember what I was going to say, and then end up leaving something out or taking too long. I personally think you did a really good job with this pitch. You spoke calm and confidently, and you had some natural hand gestures to go along with your speech. You had a great opening to capture attention and you did a very good job describing the product, how it works, where it can be found and who it can be useful to. If I had anything to recommend, it would only be to try and speak with a little more excitement or inflection to emphasize certain parts of the product to grab attention. Other than that, you really did do a great job and I'm definitely interested in your product, seeing as I break my fingernails or get frustrated trying to pry things apart all the time.

  3. Hey Jeff,

Your second time around has really improved since the first one! You maintained strong eye contact with the audience, which engages the customer in a more personable way. Your mannerisms were also really strong, showing the customer the true ease of your product and its portability. Your question at the end holds the the audience accountable and I find that to be crucial when presenting. Good job!

  4. Jeff,

Great job on your pitch. It obvious that you are improving and becoming more comfortable with elevator pitches. I too have a hard time memorizing my script and adding emotion to my pitch. It took me a long time to memorize mine and even then I had pulled up on my computer screen incase I forgot my words. I also had to do a couple takes before I felt like I had added at least a little emotion to my pitch. Keep up the great work!

  5. I think you did a great job considering your first time around. This one doesn't seem scripted at all which can be a good thing. On the other hand, I think that you should practice more. You said it yourself, this isn't something at which you'll get better at with only 3 attempts. So you should practice more times before doing your final take.
